Suburbs in 2218

Tow truck Allawah

Allawah is a small suburb between Carlton and Hurstville, centred on its station and a lot of medium-density housing. Basement car parks in unit blocks are a regular pick-up point.

Allawah has lots of unit blocks with basement car parks and low entry heights, so we need the clearance before we arrive.

Main roads: Railway Pde, Illawarra rail corridor

Tow truck Carlton

Carlton straddles the Georges River and Bayside council boundary along the Illawarra line. It's mostly older homes and unit blocks with on-street parking, so many tows here start with getting a non-runner out from between parked cars.

Carlton's older streets are narrow with parking on both sides, so a dead car often has to be pulled out from between parked cars. Driveways can be short and steep.

Main roads: Railway Pde, Carlton Pde, Willison Rd

  • Non-starters parked kerbside on narrow residential streets
  • Minor collisions near Carlton station and Railway Pde
  • Tilt-tray moves for unregistered or project cars

Insurance claim tows in 2218

Allawah: If your car is damaged in a basement, building management may need to approve access. Keep the strata or building contact handy for the insurer and for us.

Carlton: Carlton straddles two council areas, but that doesn't change your claim. Give your insurer the location, time and photos, and we'll note the pick-up address on our docket.

Ask your insurer where the car should go. We can deliver it there or hold it at our Kogarah yard in the meantime.

Questions

Which suburbs are in postcode 2218?

Allawah and Carlton.

Do you do accident and breakdown towing across 2218?

Yes, 24/7. That includes car accident towing, breakdown tows and tilt-tray transport on Railway Pde, Illawarra rail corridor and Carlton Pde.

Where will you take my vehicle from 2218?

To your mechanic, a smash repairer, your insurer's assessor, our Kogarah yard or home.

Do you tow prestige and low cars in 2218?

Yes. Prestige, low and modified cars go on a tilt tray with soft straps.

Can you tow a car out of an Allawah basement car park?

Often. Tell us the entrance height and how tight the ramp is. Very low basements may need the car rolled to street level first.

Do I need building permission for a basement tow?

Some buildings require it. Check with strata or building management if unsure.

Can a tilt tray fit into Carlton's narrow streets?

Mostly yes. Sometimes a parked car needs moving or we wait for a gap. Calling ahead helps.

Do you tow unregistered cars from Carlton?

Yes. Unregistered and non-running cars go on the tilt tray, never driven on the road.

Towed after a crash in NSW? Know your rights

In NSW you decide who tows your car and where it goes. Accident tow trucks must have a number plate of four numbers ending in "TT", and a driver with a valid driver certificate. You sign a Towing Authorisation Form before the tow and you're entitled to a copy. Maximum accident towing charges are set by NSW Fair Trading. See the current maximums.
